A Juneau concrete outfit on your side
I came to concrete late and figured it was time to build something that stays put. I learned on other people's crews before starting our own, and now we handle your job ourselves from the first look to the cleanup. The rest of the story is on our About page, and it's mostly concrete.
We're based in Juneau, AK, and work across the City and Borough. We also take jobs in other cities when they make sense, so ask. Call (907) 560-0628, email estimates@juneauconcrete.com or use our contact page.
Concrete work across Juneau

From first call to finished slab
Here's what happens after you get in touch, so nothing about the process catches you off guard.
You call or write
Call (907) 560-0628 or send the form, and we get back to you within one business day to set up a visit.
I come out and look
I walk the site, ask a lot of questions and hand you a written estimate, free and with no obligation to go ahead.
We pour and finish
If you go ahead, we take care of permits where they apply and set the pour around the weather. I'm on site from the forms to the finish.
What we check before any concrete goes down
Most concrete trouble starts underneath or with the water, so these get looked at before anyone talks finish.
The ground
- Soil under the slab
- How deep to dig out
- Packing the base
- Soft or wet spots
Where water goes
- Slope away from the house
- Downspouts and runoff
- Low spots that pool
- Drainage behind walls
The pour itself
- Slab thickness and rebar
- Control joint layout
- Weather, cover and heat
- Permits and inspections
The part that matters most gets buried first
The base under a slab is out of sight by pour day, so it's the first thing a tight budget cuts. A nice finish on a base that was only raked level is a crack waiting its turn. We dig out, pack the base and check where water runs before we talk finish.

The standard our concrete has to meet
These are the three things we won't skip, because they decide whether a slab cracks early.
Water sent away from the house
Before we set forms, we check where water runs, so the finished slab slopes away from your house instead of toward it.
Joints cut on time
Control joints are cuts that give concrete a place to crack where we chose, so we cut them while the slab is young instead of after it's picked its own spot.
Pours timed and protected
We avoid pouring into midday heat, which leaves a weak, dusty top, and we cover young concrete through curing, the wait while it gains strength before use.
Concrete questions we hear in Juneau
How much does a new concrete driveway cost in Juneau?
It depends mostly on size, how much digging and base work the ground needs, access for the truck and the finish you pick. Tearing out an old slab adds demolition and hauling. I'll walk the site and give you a written estimate with your figure in it.
How long until I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You'll walk on it well before you drive on it, because concrete keeps gaining strength after the pour and needs that time before it carries a car. Cold weather slows curing, so I'll give you the wait for your slab and your season at the estimate.
Is a concrete estimate in Juneau free?
Yes, our estimates are free, done at your property and carry no obligation. Yours comes in writing and lists the mix, the joints and what gets hauled away, so you can hold it up against another bid. Call (907) 560-0628 to set one up.
What do I need to do to get my yard ready for a concrete pour?
Not much beyond clearing the way. Move vehicles, planters and anything stored on the old slab, and keep a path open for the truck. We handle the digging, the base, the forms and the cleanup, and I'll tell you at the estimate if anything nearby needs moving.
Should I pick stamped concrete or a plain broom finish?
For a driveway or walk, a broom finish is usually the better pick, because its brushed texture gives shoes grip in the rain. Stamped or colored concrete looks like stone or brick and costs more, so it usually goes on a patio or an entry. Either way, the base underneath matters more than the top.
Can you pour concrete in Juneau in the cold or rain?
Yes, when the cover and heat are planned before the truck shows up. Young concrete that freezes or gets rained on can end up weak at the surface, so we set the pour around the forecast and protect the slab while it cures. Some days we just wait, which costs less than a do-over.
Tell us about your concrete job
Describe the job, where it is and what you've noticed about the old concrete, and we'll reply within one business day to set up a free, no-obligation visit.
