Juneau Concrete

About our Juneau concrete contractor crew

A locally owned concrete contractor based in Juneau, Alaska.

People in Juneau deserve concrete that stays put through the cold, so we start with the ground and plan each pour around the weather.

Concrete driveway leads to a cream garage, bordered by landscaped beds, with a waterfront view beyond.

Built to stay put

I put the most care into the part nobody looks at, because a pretty finish on a bad base is just a crack waiting its turn.

I came to concrete late, after years of other jobs, and figured it was time to build something that stays put. I learned the trade on other people's crews, then started our own in Juneau in 2017. Today we pour driveways, patios, slabs and foundations, all listed on our home page, mostly for homeowners plus some small business and property owners.

I come out to look at your job myself and write the estimate, and I'm there on pour day, so nothing gets lost between what we talked about and what gets built. Our own crew does the work. We're based in Juneau and work across the City and Borough, and we take jobs in other cities when they make sense.

Most of what I care about is buried by the end of the first day. That's the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, the base we dig out and pack over it, and how we protect the concrete while it cures and gains strength. If concrete isn't the right answer for you, or we aren't the right crew, I'll tell you on the first visit.

We'd rather spend the money where you'll never see it than pour a nice finish over ground that's going to move.

Ground rules for every pour

  1. Same person, estimate to pour

I look your job over and write the estimate, then I'm on site the day the truck comes, so the plan you agreed to is the plan our crew follows.

  2. Cold-weather plans made first

We work out the cover and the heat for a cold-season pour before the truck shows up, because concrete that freezes while it's young can end up weak.

  3. City permits handled for you

When your job needs a city permit, we file it and book inspections through our Civic Access account, and if it's unclear, we ask the CBJ Permit Center first.

Base first, then the finish

When the budget gets tight, the finish is where I'd cut, not the base. We dig out soft soil and pack the base instead of raking dirt level, check where the water runs so the slab falls away from your house, and cut control joints, shallow grooves that give cracks a straight place to go.

Estimates you can hold up side by side

Your written estimate spells out the mix, the joints and what gets hauled away, so you can hold it up against anyone else's. Price mostly moves with the slab's size, how much base work it needs, the finish and the season. You can ask for one from our contact page.
